S.T.E.P.S. or Striving Toward Empowered Personal Success, has worked for 16 years to empower girls and uplift communities by providing young women tools to build lives of integrity and self-sufficiency. They have worked with and mentored a diverse population of over 2000 at-risk middle and high school girls primarily from low-income households in New London, Groton, Norwich, Plainfield, and other areas of southeastern Connecticut. S.T.E.P.S. Afterschool program, Annual Leadership Program, Summer of STEM+ and Summer Enrichment program are some of the tools that help girls realize their full power and potential. Their Board of Directors also represents a diverse and unique leadership group in our region. They continue to work passionately to empower young women to break the cycle of poverty and become true and involved members of their community, and our future leaders. Thank you and congratulations to STEPS.
